THE MOON IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

BEFORE THE TRIBULATION

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring" (Lk. 21:25; Gen. 1:14).

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come" (Acts 2:20; Joel 2:10, 31).

DURING THE TRIBULATION

"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood" (Rev. 6:12).

"And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon...was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise"  (Rev. 8:12; Joel 3:15).

"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars" (Rev. 12:1).

AFTER THE TRIBULATION

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken" (Mt. 24:29; Isa. 13:10).

"But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light" (Mk. 13:24; Ezek. 2:37).

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof" (Rev. 21:23).

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE MOON

"There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory" (1 Cor. 15:41; Gen. 1:16).

"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days" (Col. 2:16).
