THE FOCUS OF THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the Gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved.... For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST died for our sins according to the Scriptures; and that CHRIST was buried, and that CHRIST rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:1-4).

CHRIST was delivered for our offences, and CHRIST was raised again for our justification” (Rom. 4:25).

“But CHRIST was wounded for our transgressions, CHRIST was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon CHRIST; and with CHRIST'S stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on CHRIST the iniquity of us all” (Isa. 53:5-6).

“For CHRIST also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that CHRIST might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit” (1 Pet. 3:18).

“For the preaching of CHRIST'S cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (1 Cor. 1:18).

“For I determined not to know any thing among you, save JESUS CHRIST, and CHRIST crucified” (1 Cor. 2:2).

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS CHRIST, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised CHRIST from the dead, thou shalt be saved” (Rom. 10:9).

“Ought not CHRIST to have suffered these things, and to enter into CHRIST'S glory? ...and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved CHRIST to suffer, and CHRIST to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in CHRIST'S name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Lk. 24:26, 46-47).

My emphasis on CHRIST is in the Spirit of the text, not a translation.
