SALVATION RESULTS FROM BELIEVING GOD

There are a lot of Bible scholars who are quite certain they know what one must do in order to be saved, that is, to become a born again believer in Jesus Christ.  Sadly, they do not all agree.  Therefore, some or all may be wrong.  It is obvious that all cannot be right!  I am sure they all believe they are correct, and all those who disagree with them, are bound for hell.  Yes, theology, like most "ologies," is still being debated as it has been since the days of Cain and Abel.  I am not foolish enough to dogmatically state that "my way" is right, but I would like to share my understanding of what the Bible teaches on the subject of salvation.

Abel - "By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh" (Heb. 11:4).

Enoch - "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.  But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him" (Heb. 11:5-6).

Noah - "By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith" (Heb. 11:7).

Abraham - "For what saith the Scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness" (Rom. 4:3; Gal. 3:6; Jam. 2:23).

Rahab - "By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace" (Heb. 11:31).

The Thief - "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise" (Lk. 23:42-43; Mt. 27:38).

The Jailer - "And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the Word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house" (Acts 16:30-32).

Whosoever - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" (Rom. 10:10, 13, 17).
